I really couldn't think of a better title. Forgive me, I'm tired.
Anyways, what this is is just a comprehensive list of all the spells in beta right now, and how they compare to spells currently in live. My goal with this is to give an idea of how the playstyle is changing, strictly by the numbers. Click past the jump for the break down of the Paladin class in a live vs beta comparison.
**These values are all for a level 80 character. Healing done and mana costs shift quite a bit as you level, since it is only a 5 level expansion. The purpose of this post is simply to give an idea of where things are going, not an end all. Once the beta allows me to reach 85 I will create a post on level 85 values. For now, enjoy what information we have, and take it with a grain of salt.**
Also worth noting that I'm only covering single target heals here. Aoe's and utility spells will be in a different article, because I want to go over mechanics too. I find it's a safe assumption that i do not need to explain the spells listed in this thread, except maybe Divine Light, but, that is essentially "Greater Holy Light".
Mana Costs:
Form of [current, cata] and in terms of % base mana cost.
Divine Light: Base mana cost: [NA,30] | Level 80 values: [NA, 1318]
Flash of Light: Base mana cost: [7,27] | Level 80 values: [307, 1186]
Holy Light: Base mana cost: [29, 6] | Level 80 values: [1274, 263]
Holy Shock: Base mana cost: [18,8] | Level 80 values: [790, 351]
Cast Times:
Because of how many variables there are here, I am not including current live values. I can edit them in if someone feels they need them. For "base" I am assuming you talented into any talents you have to lower cast times. The gear I am getting my haste values from is my own, and thus has 927 haste rating, or 28.27%, 37.27% after judgement. You can go about 200 haste below what I have and it would make maybe a .15 second cast difference at the most, so this should give you a good idea.
Divine Light: Base cast time: [2.2] | Judge + haste: [1.57]
Flash of Light: Base cast time: [1.5] | Judge + haste: [1.07]
Holy Light: Base cast time: [2.7] | Judge + haste: [1.93]
Power (Throughput):
It's hard to give an objective idea of throughput, because things scale so differently and I don't have the sp scaling numbers on hand. So, for this, we are going to assume 3600 sp. (You gain some just by logging in). Averages were done over a 25 cast span.
These are only cataclysm values, but if you want soemthing to compare to, Divine Light is hitting for what my HL hits in live, my FoL is hitting for what my HS hits in live, my HL is hitting for what FoL is in live, and HS is somewhere between where it was and HL in live.
Divine Light: Average hit: [12.4k] | Average crit: [19.5k]
Flash of Light: Average hit: [8.8k] | Average crit: [13.6k]
Holy Light: Average hit: [6.5k] | Average crit: [9.5k]
Holy Shock: Average hit: [10k] | Average crit: [15k]
Conclusion:
To wrap this up, I want to point out again that this is beta, and things change. I will try to update this if anything changes drastically. As for my personal opinion on the changes, by the numbers, it's hard to tell. In practice, I enjoy the way things are fitting together. It forces you to make decisions, such as "Do I have the time to get a Holy Light off?", and "Do I really need to waste the mana on a Divine Light here?". Triage is making a triumphant return, and it's adding a new level of depth to the "one spell wonder" healer that we have been for so long.
If you want to see these spells in action, or some of my thoughts the first time I put them through an instance, check out my previous post: The Stonecore - My First Experience in Cataclysm Healing
